Our Principal

Dear Druid Hills Academy Family,

My name is Dr. Sony Anderson, and I am truly honored to join you as your new principal. With over 25 years of experience in education, I have dedicated my career to fostering student growth and building strong, inclusive communities. I truly see Druid Hills Academy as a hidden gem, and I am incredibly excited to build on our rich legacy of success while guiding our community toward bright new possibilities.

At the heart of my leadership are three guiding values: family first, service always, and excellence together. I look forward to working alongside our talented staff, dedicated families, and brilliant students to continue the wonderful progress already underway.

Though I was born in North Carolina, I attended elementary and secondary school in New Jersey. I later returned to the Tar Heel State to attend Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, and went on to earn my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction and my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from UNC Charlotte. Over the past two and a half decades, I have been privileged to serve in various educational roles, including classroom teacher, facilitator, Instructional Accountability Facilitator, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, MTSS Specialist, and Director of Educational Leadership Development.

On a personal note, I love spending time with family and friends, taking impromptu trips, and participating in community service events whenever time permits.
I am incredibly excited about what we will achieve as a team this year. Thank you for welcoming me into the Druid Hills family!
